A special place where the Atlantic Ocean and the mountains of the northeast meet, Acadia National Park is a collection of islands shaped by glaciation: ice rounding the granite peaks and gouging valleys, and lakes, and passes. The Atlantic rose as the ice withdrew, forming this complex structure of land and water.
