From
the South Dakota grassland prairie, rain, wind, and frost have
carved the steep canyons, sharp ridges, gullies, spires, and knobs
in the wall of Badlands National Park. Extending hundreds of miles
through the dry plains, it is a huge natural barrier wall. The
animals that once called the park home are memorialized by their
fossils found throughout the park.
