This
park is at the southern end of Florida, a hundred-mile-long subtropical
wilderness of saw-grass prairie, jungle-like hammock, and mangrove
swamps, extending from lake Okeechobee and ending in Florida Bay.
In wet years a river inches-deep flows south from the lake through
this ecosystem to Florida Bay. The park is home to many animals,
the most well-known being the ancient alligator.

the Everglades
National Park Forum to ask questions about the park.
