An endless series of rugged, snow-capped mountain ridges located above Alaska's Arctic Circle make up Gates of the Arctic National Park. This park is often referred to as America's Wilderness because of its size, weather and remote location. The park contains seven designated wild rivers and many lakes and rivers yet unnamed. The peaks of the Brooks Range contrast with broad glacial valleys below.
