Truly a geological wonder, Guadalupe Mountains National Park in northwestern Texas consists of mountains containing an ancient marine fossil reef. The reef was formed about 250 million years ago when this part of Texas was covered by a vast tropical ocean. Today travelers wonder at the grandeur of 8,085 foot El Capitan as they pass by on the highway.

Visit the Guadalupe Mountains National Park Forum to ask questions about the park.
