Haleakala (10,023 ft.), a huge dormant volcano, forms much of the park and the eastern half of the island of Maui, Hawaii. From the crater's rim one can only guess at the size and magnitude of the once mighty Haleakala. In contrast to the colorful red rocks of the crater, the park's Kipahulu coastal region is lush, green, and wet. Stream pools are connected by waterfalls and cascades, a tropical wonderland.

Visit the Haleakala National Park Forum to ask questions about the park.
