A unique combination of federal and state cooperation protects an area from sea level to 3,100 feet in the Coast Range of California. A mostly mild, moist climate assures Redwood National Park an abundant diversity of wildlife, adding to the attraction of the Redwood trees, themselves examples of the world's tallest living things. It is here that one may walk among the giant trees while examining the smallest of plants on the forest carpet below. The coastal fog hides the tops of the trees as you walk among their roots, cool on a warm summer's day.
