High among the snow-covered peaks and ridges of Colorado lies Rocky Mountain National Park. A full one-third of the park is above tree line, and here the alpine tundra dominates the park's mountain landscape. The peaks rise high above the pristine sub-alpine valleys, glacier blue lakes and meadows of wild flowers providing a home to a full spectrum of wildlife, including the park's symbol-the bighorn sheep. The park's changing climate zones crest a show from the mountain peaks down to the foothills with open stands of Ponderosa Pine, Juniper, Douglas-fir, Blue Spruce, and the Lodgepole Pine. Openings in these forests produce wild flower gardens of beauty where the Colorado columbine reigns.

Visit the Rocky Mountain National Park Forum to ask questions about the park.
